20 Interesting Facts about Victory Venkatesh


December 13th happens to be the birthday of a man who has Victory in his name and yeah, today is Daggubati Venkatesh’s 56th Birthday. Born in 1960 into the family of movie moghul Dr. D.Ramanaidu (late), Venkatesh grew up in Chennai and completed his schooling there. After making his debut as a hero in 1986, Venkatesh has quickly established himself as one of the top heroes of the Telugu Film Industry alongside Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and Bala Krishna. He is one of the talented heroes of Tollywood who is near to family audience and far to controversies.

This is his 30th year in the film industry as a hero. So here we bring you some of the interesting facts about Victory Venkatesh –

1) Venkatesh did his schooling in Don Bosco, Egmore, Chennai. He graduated with a Bachelors in Commerce from Loyola College in Chennai and got his MBA from the Monterey Institute of International Studies,USA.

2) His father, late Dr.D.Rama Naidu started a production house named“Suresh Productions” which is one of the largest film production companies in India. Venky’s brother D.Suresh Babu is now successfully running this prestigious banner which has the Guinness record of producing films in all Indian languages.


3) Victory Venkatesh being one of the top heroes from Tollywood started his career as a child artist in 1971 in the film Prem Nagar opposite Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Vanisree which has not been revealed out officially.


4) K.Raghavendra Rao signed a film in Suresh Productions in 1986 and he was in search for a hero after which he introduced Venkatesh who was abroad. And this is Venky’s debut film as a hero which is titled Kaliyuga Pandavulu.


5) Venkatesh never wanted to become a hero as he was willing to get into business and was interested in production.

6) Venkatesh didn’t know how to read and write in Telugu as he was born in Chennai and moved to USA for studies. He later on learned how to read and write his mother tongue after becoming a hero.

7) Venkatesh got married to Neeraja in 1985 and the couple are blessed with four children out of which Three are daughters – Hayavahini, Aashritha, Bhavana and youngest one being a boy – Arjun Ramnath.


8) He is popularly known as a Family movie specialist but he generally never brings his wife or children to any of his movies events or parties as he doesn’t like to take work to home.

9) Though he started his career as a hero with a big disaster Kaliyuga Pandavulu in 1986, his overall success rate stands at above 80% till now. Due to which Victory was added to his surname in the 1990’s as most of his films like Kshana Kshanam, Chanti, Intlo Illalu Vantintlo Priyuralu, Pelli Chesukundham Raa, Jayam Manadhera, Surya Vamsam, Ganesh, Raja, Premante Idera, Kalisundham Raa have become blockbusters in the 90’s period.

10) Venky has a palatial house which is no less than a dream house at Dollar colony, Manikonda. The house was built on a sprawling 4 acre land and that too on the top of a hill. Venkatesh constructed his new house and made provisions to practice his yoga and meditation which he does daily.

11) Venkatesh is a big fan of sports and he loves to watch cricket. Whenever he finds time, he attends cricket matches or spends time watching them on TV. Venky is also a good cricket player and he is one of the captains in Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) tournaments held every year leading over Telugu Warriors team. He is also a close friend of VVS.Laxman who acted along with him in the film Vasantham.


12) Venkatesh and late actress Soundarya were considered as a dream couple of 1990s owing to some strong storylines, awesome onscreen chemistry and brilliant performance of both the actors. Though their first film Super Police was a dud, their next film Pavitra bandham was a sensational hit. Then their success streak followed with films like Intlo Illalu Vantintlo Priyuralu, Pelli Chesukundam Raa, Raja, Jayam Manadera and Deviputrudu.


13) Chanti (1992) is a film which has taken Venky’s career to a next level. This is the remake of Tamil film “Chinna Thambi” which later went on to become a industry hit at that time collecting 9 Crores and crossing 100 days in more than 40 direct centers. Venkatesh himself remade Chanti in Hindi with Karishma Kapoor as heroine and gained a super hit in there too.


14) He has received seven state Nandi Awards, and five Filmfare Awards for best acting till date.


15) Venkatesh is a huge believer of God and he has many principles that he follows in real life.

16) Produced under their own banner, Venkatesh remade Ali’s blockbuster Yamaleela(1994) in Hindi as Taqdeerwala with Raveena Tandon which failed miserably at the box office.

17) Venkatesh is the actor who brought back the trend of multistarrers to Tollywood with Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu along side Mahesh Babu. He later went on to do few more multi-starrers with Ram and Pawan Kalyan titled Masala and Gopala Gopala respectively.


18) He joined hands with Teenage Foundation recently to give a message saying “Say No To – Peer Pressure”. Venkatesh conveyed a Message via video to bring awareness among the youth who are getting addicted to peer pressure and to fights against getting addicted to habits like smoking and drinking.


19) Venky’s dream is to do a film on Swamy Vivekananda and he aspires of playing Vivekananda on screen.

20) Over the years, Venkatesh has earned the tag of “remake king” for almost remaking 24 films like Bharatamlo Arjunudu, Trimurthulu, Bharamaputrudu, Chanti, Vasantam, Gemini, Seenu, Surya Vamsham, Intlo Illalu Vantintlo Priyuralu, Pokiri Raja, Kondapalli Raja, Abbayigaaru, Sundarakanda, Chinna Rayudu, Two Town Rowdy, Gharshana, Eenadu, Sankranthi, Body Guard, Nagavalli, Drushyam, Masala, and Gopala Gopala. His next film Guru is also going to be remake of Madhavan’s Hindi film Saala Khadoos under Sudha Kongara direction.
